Responsibilities

  • Design benefit programs (insurance, wellness, etc.)
  • Evaluate and negotiate with service providers (e.g. private insurance company)
  • Assume responsibility of timely payment of monthly premiums
  • Manage enrollments and determine employee eligibility
  • Handle all benefit compensation and reimbursement procedures
  • Coordinate leaves of absence and process claims or requests (medical operations, worker’s compensation etc.)
  • Keep updated employee records with all relevant information (marital status, years of service, hours worked etc.)
  • Inform employees of their benefit options and plans and monitor use
  • Collaborate with accounting department for payments and deductions

qualifications

  • Proven experience as benefits administrator
  • Solid understanding of different benefit plans (retirement, health & dental insurance etc.) and relevant regulations
  • Experience with ADP human resource management is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office and/or HRMS system (e.g. Oracle)
  • Understanding of data recording and analysis
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and negotiation abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable with adherence to confidentiality dictations
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources or relevant field
  • Experience leading or supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility initiatives
  • Commitment to unbiased and equitable hiring, with a focus on outreach to historically marginalized communities

  • Extensive Benefits Administration Experience : 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration & Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration or related field. OR 10+ years (without a degree), with proven expertise managing medical, dental, vision, 401(k), wellness, and compliance programs within GovCon.
  • Government Contracting (GovCon) Expertise: Direct experience supporting a government contracting organization, understanding Service Contract Act (SCA), collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), contract terms, and rate impacts on bids.
  • Strong Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Workers’ Compensation, and other applicable federal and state laws.
  • Technical Proficiency in HR Systems: Hands-on experience with ADP (REQUIRED), CostPoint (preferred), and Smartsheet or similar tools; adept at maintaining accurate data and reconciling payroll and benefit deductions.
  • Strategic Communication and Leadership Skills: Ability to serve as a trusted advisor to HR leadership and employees alike, skilled in vendor management, C-level communication, and driving process improvements independently.
  • Flexibility: Must be able to travel occasionally and able to maintain flexible hours across time zones.
